We have been forwarded a post from Frank Tait, announcing that Col. Allen West has agreed to be a candidate for NRA EVP at the next meeting of the board (which makes the choice).
“Col. West said, “In the military, we have a saying, it is that Warriors move to the sound of the guns. It is with sincere humility that I have consented to my nomination to be Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association. History has taught us that when the people are disarmed, they are subjugated, enslaved to tyranny and totalitarianism. The Nation’s oldest civil rights institution is the National Rifle Association. I would be honored to secure that legacy going forward for future generations of legal, law-abiding American citizens, and gun owners. My goals are to restore the honor, integrity, and character of this venerable organization along with refocusing on our core competencies, shooting sports/marksmanship, and defense of our Second Amendment constitutional right.”
Many in the second amendment community reached out to encourage Col. West to accept the call including former NRA Board members Richard Carone and Joseph Olson, former NRA General Counsel [mistake, he is former NRA Secretary] Edward James Land Jr., former NRA Assistant General Counsel Thomas M. Moncure, Jr., and leaders from the industry including President of Luth-AR & Founder of D.P.M.S/Panther Arms Randy Luth.”
Background: Joe Olson is a very pro-2A professor of law, and former director, who back in the 1990s tried to have NRA relocate its legal domicile out of New York; James Land is a retired career USMC Major who was Secretary of NRA for 20+ years, and Thomas Moncure became a professor of law after serving as an NRA attorney, Richard Carone was head of the board’s Finance Committee back in the 1990s, and tried to reform NRA’s finances and make them honest back then (without success, he was purged for his efforts).
