NY Vs. NRA: LaPierre Testifies, Documents Revealed

LaPierre testified today, here is the best account of his testimony. Here is another. A good one by Courthouse News. His testimony will resume on Monday. A third.

“Conley showed that LePierre had also submitted reimbursement forms for gifts from Neiman Marcus, Christmas tips for landscapers at his house, membership dues for a golf club in Washington and hotel rooms for Sterner, including a 2017 stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel that cost more than $6,000.”

Sterner is Mrs. LaPierre’s niece.

A big load of documents were filed as exhibits, letting us see some that haven’t see the light of day before:

Rocky Marshall’s complaint to the Ethics Committee, regarding John Frazer’s refusing to let him see a copy of the NRA Directors and Officers liability policy. Plus, Marshall’s report to the board on mismanagement.

An Ackerman McQueen invoice to the NRA, billing over $87,000 for “out of pocket expenses,” no explanation given.

An email from Esther Schneider to the other “dissenting directors,” outlining their grievances, that information is being withheld from the board, that tens of millions donated by the members are being spent to allow NRA staff to escape responsibility, that legal fees are skyrocketing.

Her letter to “Board Counsel” Wit Davis, asking for answers. Did the Audit Committee know of the hundreds of thousands spent on LaPierre’s travel and wardrobe? If so, why didn’t the committee report things to the full board? Is there a plan for those who grabbed NRA funds to repay the organization? Plus plenty of other questions.

Her response to being stripped of all committee assignments.

Her, Sean Maloney’s, and Timothy Knight’s resignation from the board. They were trying to clean up and save NRA, and in return were stonewalled, labeled as disloyal, and stripped of committee assignments.

A 2016 internal memo describing NRA’s financial problems. “I might have to liquidate that other $5 million in investments. Ugh.”

A print out of payments to the lady who booked executive jets for LaPierre. The bill runs from twenty thousand a month to fifty thousand.

  1. Undoubtedly, the NRA will be found guilty on one or more charges and the NRA stating that Wayne’s resignation is all the corrective action that is necessary is ludicrous!

  2. If members were to launch a class action civil suit against against individual board members – – with a view to putting them in the same position they have put the organization they were employed to oversee, (bankrupt) – justice would be served. Any good litigation firms out there looking for a sure-fire win??

  3. Damning evidence has surfaced in the New York City courtroom. It is fitting that Wayne LaPierre enjoyed the comforts of the opulent yacht Illusions. LaPierre created the illusion he was supporting the constitutional right to keep and bear arms when in fact he was enriching himself and his aiders and abettors at the expense of loyal NRA members. LaPierre and his soulless accomplices siphoned millions of dollars from NRA and NRA’s loyal contributing members.
